Ministry This Minute -
October 30, 2000
Two of our close friends stopped by for a visit the
other night and we spent some time catching up on each
other. During the evening I shared my frustration that
our daily life keeps me so busy I have no time left for
our music ministry. Then our friend said something that
hit me right between the eyes. She said that right now my
ministry is taking care of our family, and when God wants
me to concentrate on our music ministry He'll make a way
for that to come back to the front burner. Well duh, I
should've known that! I told God I would do whatever
ministry He asked me to do and yet I overlooked the one
right before my eyes. I was focusing on the big, long
term picture and discounting the seemingly unrelated
ministry God had for me today.
What is your ministry today? It may be saving hundreds
of lost souls, or it may be changing dirty diapers. Maybe
you are feeding starving children in the depths of
poverty, or feeding not so starving children around your
kitchen table. Is one more important or more worthwhile
than the other? Whatever God has placed before you today
is your ministry for this minute. It may not be glamorous
or even noticed by the world, but joyfully doing what God
asks you to do is the ultimate offering of praise to Him.
So what are you waiting for ... you've got some praising
to do!
