Flat Tires - October 19,
2000
Sunday night on my way home from singing I drove past
a car parked in our neighborhood that has become a daily
source of speculation for our family. You see, for
several weeks now this particular vehicle has been
sitting beside the road with a flat rear tire. We are
always checking to see if it has been repaired and
wondering why the owner just lets it sit there. When I
drove past it this time I thought, what a waste. Here was
a perfectly good car with the potential to be of so much
use to the family and yet it was rendered totally
ineffective by a tire that could have been repaired with
a minimum of time and money. Then mind took a sharp turn
to the right.
How many of us are rendered totally ineffective for
God because we have a flat tire of one sort or another.
God instills in every person the potential to do great
things for Him and yet many of us never get off the side
of the road because sin has left us flat and useless.
Like the car, we can't fix our own flat tires of sin, but
God can remove the sin that punctured our soul and fully
inflate us again with the Holy Spirit. Unlike the car who
has no voice to speak, we can ask God for this life
changing repair. He doesn't mind getting His hands dirty
to reach into our hearts and remove the debris from
worldly roads.
How about you? Are you in need of repair? Let God get
to work so you can get off the curb and back in the race.
I plan to see you at the finish line!
